Pick with a PickCart

This workflow shows you how to process several work orders in one run with a PickCart. Use it when you collect items for multiple orders on one route through the warehouse.

Role: Operator

Prerequisites

  • Your account has the PickCart permission for the storage you pick from.
  • A PickCart is linked to your workstation — see Process configuration.
  • Work orders are available for the storage.

Steps

Attach work orders to the cart

  1. On the Main Menu, click PickCart. The cart view opens and shows the cart locations with their current state.
  2. If the work order list is long, open the search popover above it and type a number or a description. The match is not case-sensitive, and the active filter is shown as a chip you can remove to see the full list again.
  3. Attach work orders to cart locations in one of these ways:
    • Click an empty cart location and click Attach, then select a work order.
    • Scan a work order code.
    • Attach the top orders of the list to all free locations at once.
    • If the selected work order type has work order templates, switch the filter to Work order templates and click Attach on a template card — oneGRID creates a new work order from the template and attaches it to the cart location you select.
  4. If container tracking is enabled, attach a container to each used cart location when oneGRID asks for it.

Pick the attached orders

  1. Click Start. oneGRID guides you to the first location.
  2. Take the shown amount of the item and confirm the source according to the storage settings.
  3. Place the item into the cart location indicated by the LED signal and confirm the destination.
  4. Repeat until all positions of all attached orders are picked. The picking run is completed.

Continue a full container in a new one

When the container at the cart location runs out of space, replace it without interrupting the order:

  1. Click Container is full, attach new. The Attach new container dialog opens.
  2. Scan an empty container to place it on the cart in the spot of the full one. The replacement has to fit the cart location, the same way it does when you place a container there by hand.
  3. Take the full container off the cart and continue picking into the new one.

The full container keeps its work order and everything already picked into it, so its packing list stays available.

note

The button appears only when container tracking is enabled, the cart location holds a real container, and something has already been picked into that container. It is not offered for an order that sits on a cart location without a container.

note

When lot number tracking is enabled and a location holds stock with lot numbers, the Scan lot number dialog opens during confirmation. Scan the lot number of the stock you are picking; if the location also holds stock of the item without a lot number, Pick item without lot number skips the scan.

Result

All attached work orders are picked into their cart locations and their status changes to Completed. You can review the run in the report of the cart view.

If something goes wrong

ProblemSee
The message Configuration is missing appears or PickCart cannot be startedCart picking cannot be started
The PickCart tile is not visibleA feature is not visible
Your process is blocked or cannot be resumedA process is stuck
A container that was replaced cannot be scanned back onto the cartThis is refused while the order is still being picked. Finish the order first
Detach all work orders is refusedAn order on the cart continues in a replaced container. Detach the containers individually instead
note

An order that already spans several containers can be attached to the PickCart again after it was detached, so an accidental detach can be undone.
