Sort items with Manual Sorting

This workflow shows you how to sort items into guided locations on a shelving storage with Manual Sorting. Use it when a batch of mixed items needs to be separated into locations one by one.

Role: Operator

Prerequisites

• Your account has the Manual Sorting permission for the shelving storage.
• The Manual Sorting feature is included in your organization's license.
• The storage has empty locations available.

Steps

1. On the Main Menu, click Manual Sorting. The Manual Sorting page opens and shows two tiles — Empty locations and Full locations — each counting against the total number of locations in the storage.
2. Scan the next item. oneGRID guides you to the destination location. If the scanned item does not exist yet, confirm the dialog to create it.
3. Place the item into the indicated location and confirm it by scanning the location or the container, depending on the storage's scanning confirmation policy. If the indicated location has no more space, click Location is full to get a new destination.
4. Repeat for every item in the batch.
5. To record what the storage currently holds, click Export. oneGRID downloads a CSV file of the current stocks with the columns Storage, Location ID, Container, Item number, External Identifier, Item name, Description, Lot number, Amount, and Unit of measure. The button stays disabled while the storage is empty.
6. To empty the storage, click Unload Storage and remove the goods from the indicated locations, or click Clear Storage to empty it in one step after confirming with Clear.

The headings, amounts, unit abbreviations, and separators in the exported file follow your account language, so the file opens with the same columns and formatting you see on screen.

Result

All items are sorted into their locations, and the Empty locations and Full locations tiles reflect the current state of the storage.
